Cleveland Food Drive
Six years ago, Grace Church began a meaningful friendship with Cleveland Elementary School. This friendship created an opportunity to build trust with our local community by helping to fill many needs at Cleveland Elementary School. One of the most significant needs we have been blessed to help meet is that of supplying food for children in need. On Fridays, children are able to take a backpack of food home with them to enjoy over the weekend. As a church family, we work together to fill bags with donated food. Our goal is to provide enough food to last the children the entire school year! We are grateful for this opportunity to participate in extravagant generosity with our brothers and sisters in Christ!
On Sunday, August 13, we kick off the food drive! The food drive will run from August 13 – September 21. On Sunday, September 24 we will gather for service at Cleveland Elementary. Together, along with our friends from Flat Rock AME, we will worship in the school cafeteria. After the worship service, we will work together to fill the food bags for the students as well as make cheerful treat bags for the teachers and school administration. Our goal is to fill the school hallways with love and encouragement! There will be many ways to get involved over the next six weeks. We invite you to use this as a discipleship time with your family, to shop and pray over the food as well as the families that will be receiving it. This Sunday, August 13, envelopes will be displayed for people to take and start shopping. On the back of the envelope is a QR code. You can use this code to give money and have someone shop for you. Beginning Sunday, August 20, marked tables will be in the auditorium ready to receive donated food! It is fun to watch the tables fill throughout the duration of the food drive!
We look forward to this exciting day every year as it creates a perfect opportunity to embrace our core values of mission, discipleship, spiritual formation, and worship! It is going to be an exciting time to worship and serve with our friends from Flat Rock AME and bless both the school and the families!
