OUR STORY
A SAFE PLACE FOR ALL
We want to be a safe place for all to explore and experience Christ and his followers. So wherever you may be in your season of life or on your spiritual journey, we want come alongside of you as a group of people who are on the same journey.
We want you to know that Jesus Christ invites each of us into a remarkable story that holds the promise of reshaping who we are and how we live in the image of His goodness and grace. Becoming a part of this redemptive story is what gives us hope and vision. So, we live out that story by serving one another, our community, and our world with compassion, courage, generosity, and faith.
JOURNEYING TOGETHER
Though we have a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and goals in our spiritual walk, we walk together on the basis of our common appreciation for and love of the grand narrative of God and the teachings and practices of Jesus we find in the Bible.
FROM THE BEGINNING
Grace Church was founded as Grace Evangelical Church in 1973 when Joe and Barbara Ivey, along with four other couples from different churches, engaged in a small group Bible study together. They were led to begin a church in Fayette County. From our beginning Grace has carefully and consistently maintained a strong commitment to Biblical teaching with clear life applications. Jesus Christ has remained the center of our community as our life giver, redeemer, sustainer, and finisher of our faith journey.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
For over 50 years now Grace has enjoyed God’s direction and faithfulness through the countless people who have been led to be part of our story. We have worked hard to cultivate a presence in the Fayette County community and in numerous foreign mission fields that is a reflection of His kindness and grace to us. We are as amazed as we are grateful to have found deep relationships and the opportunity to meet deep needs. As we look to the future we do so with humility, hope and a vision for following Jesus with a faithful presence as people who practice the way of Jesus and participate in building His Kingdom.

There's a Place for Everyone to GROW
Worship
We gather as a family every Sunday morning at 9:30 for a time of fellowship, teaching, and practicing praise together. While this time does not define us, it does provide the foundation for our relationships, a catalyst for growth, and a constant reminder of the gospel and kingdom truths that connect us.
Mission
We are deeply committed as followers of Jesus to extending grace to others so that the kingdom of God may flourish. We do so by planting deep roots in the community here in Fayette and surrounding counties as well as by sending and supporting those who feel the call to extend grace worldwide.
Formation
Whether through classes and studies, sharing our stories and homes, or expanding the scope of our spiritual practices as we live our lives in proximity with one another, we are dedicated to walking as followers of Jesus and being formed by his word and his Spirit. Everything we do is with spiritual formation in mind.

OUR BELIEFS
Our Foundational Beliefs describe the core Biblical convictions that have guided Grace Church since our beginning. As a non-denominational church, we are a community of people from a variety of spiritual backgrounds and church traditions who celebrate a rich diversity of convictions around many issues beyond the foundational elements, but we believe that such diversity ornaments the picture of the broader body of Christ. We describe it as “Generous Orthodoxy” - the capacity to hold our convictions with a generosity that displays mutual understanding, respect, dignity and love.
THE BIBLE
The Bible is the Word of God consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is verbally inspired of God, inerrant in the original writings and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
THE TRINITY
There is only one Living and True God eternally existing in three persons–Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.
Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man, and as such He lived a perfect sinless life.

MANKIND
Man was created in the image and after the likeness of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature which is enmity against God, and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word and deed.
JESUS
Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood and righteousness.
In the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us as High Priest, Advocate and the only Mediator between God and man.
In the personal and bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ to setup His kingdom upon the earth to reign in righteousness and justice.
Salvation is by grace through faith, and that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God and that the Hold Spirit indwells all believers.

SACRAMENTS
There are two sacraments, Baptism and the Lord's Supper, which are divinely enjoined upon all Christians. Without merit in themselves, they provide an expression of faith regarding the believer's identification and fellowship with Christ.
ETERNITY
In the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.
The church is the body of Christ. Its mission is to make the Gospel known to every person and to teach to those who become disciples all the things which Jesus commanded so that they may adequately serve Him.

OUR VALUES
As a community of Christ-followers, we are meant to follow Jesus, not just as individuals, but as a single, unified body. Our values are the signposts that we use to guide us toward living as a Christ-like and Christ-led church. They are expressions of our Generous Orthodoxy while also being manifestations of our Unity of Spirit.
MISSIONAL HEART
From our earliest days we have sponsored and supported global missionaries and causes. The "marketplace", as one of our first pastors described our community, is our "local mission field". We seek avenues of witness and service within our community where we have the opportunity to provide compassion, share the gospel and serve.
GENEROSITY
Few things reflect our gratitude for God's grace towards us than our generosity towards others. We enrich lives through Christ-centered generosity. Generosity towards members of our family in need and towards those in need in our community continue to be a core value.
INCARNATIONAL LIVING
Jesus calls us to live authentic, honest and Christ-like lives among our neighbors, co-workers, students, and friends. We seek to be a people and place where hurting people are embraced, questions are welcomed, seekers are honored and devoted followers of Christ find the relationships and resources for each step of their spiritual journeys.
FAMILY
We have always valued living together as a spiritual family - helping one another become more like Christ. Learning, living and laughing take place, from the youngest to the most senior, in small group settings. Serving one another and praying for and with each other have always been vital parts of our family life. Intentional spiritual friendships are encouraged and nutured.
