caring for those who care

One of the fun things about Storyworthy is that people of Grace can nominate others who they think hold a story that needs to be shared. Grace is filled with people who are practicing the way of Jesus in their daily lives, but it is just so easy to miss what others are doing in the midst of our own busy lives. Storyworthy provides the perfect path to share these stories! This week's story comes to us by nomination. The nomination reads, " Did you know that Alberta Wray has a ministry to missionaries who have changes in their calling and need care and debrief?"  After reaching out to Alberta, she shared more with us about how she is living out her calling in her everyday life!

Serving with Azmera in Israel.
Albetra shares, "I have been in full time missions work for 24 years. In that time, I’ve served with four organizations that have allowed me to live in many places around the world as well ss well as travel to 70 countries for ministry in a member care related role.

I am currently serving under my nonprofit which I opened up back in 2009 called Caring For Those Who Care. This enables me to serve multiple people regardless of the organization with whom they connected. One organization I serve with is Azmera in the form of teaching, leading small groups and 1:1 meetings with the women who attend. Azmera serves people in Dallas, Greece and Israel.  At Caring for Those Who Care, one of the areas I focus on is debriefing. Sometimes I call it ‘the newsletter that never gets written.’ Debriefs are a week-long which provides ample time, a safe space and tools to help people process their story. As a debriefer, it’s an honor and a privilege when someone invites you to journey with them in such an intimate way - in a sense, it’s walking on holy ground as I witness the Holy Spirit bring revelation, redemption, restoration and renewed hope.

I also have the privilege of partnering with mission organizations helping them develop care strategies for their staff and speaking at and leading workshops for their team. I love being able to network with other member care providers all over the world and hear what God is doing all over the world through His people!

Throughout my time in missions, I have experienced God’s faithfulness in my life in leading me to amazing organizations through His provision of a varied network with those doing similar work and the importance of expecting Him to do what He does best when people invite Him into their journey. I have learned to listen for and observe God’s redemptive story in people. He has much in store for us if we are willing to trust Him at His Word

Oh yeah! In my free time, I enjoy being creative through both art and cooking."
