It all started 8 years ago when the Engage Fayette team saw a need.  A local non-profit that had been providing food for the weekend backpack program in Fayette County had to close their doors. With the goal of coming alongside partners in the community, this was a perfect opportunity for Grace to step in and partner with our neighbors at Cleveland Elementary School to provide weekend food for their students.  For the first few years, Grace members collected food, loaded it in a trailer and delivered it to the school.   Creatively brainstorming one day, Kem Williams and Carrie Zook asked the question, “What if we had church in the school and packed bags together there?”  And so, the loved tradition of going into the school began!  In recent years, we invited our neighbors at Flat Rock AME to join us as together we are neighbors loving our neighbors.  Each year we continue to learn and improve.  This year we will have a new emphasis on blessing and praying for the teachers and staff at Cleveland.  We are grateful for a rich partnership with Cleveland Elementary.  Grace regularly hosts the Cleveland Padres nights for Hispanic families and partners with Cleveland for Tutor Tuesdays and other events in the Marnelle Community as well as providing teacher appreciation goodies throughout the year.  Join us this Sunday at 10 a.m. as we worship and serve together at Cleveland Elementary School!
